Brass & Bronze items for sale

#1004 I bought this many years ago. It is a beautiful piece. I cannot determine age so assume that it is a vintage reproduction of an ancient piece. It is very heavy and stunning to see. It measures 23 cm across.

#1005 Mid century heavy wall plate with hook on the back. Made in India. Very ornate and beautiful. 14.5 cm across.

#1372 This is a heavy, highly detailed tooled wall decoration plate with copper, brass and silver or pewter. 18 cm across. I found others like this priced between one and two hundred dollars.

#1006 These figures have a warm antique patina to them. I cannot tell the age but they seem to be quite old. The detail in these is amazing. Each is a wonderful sculpture. Each measures about 7 x 4 x 4 cm.

#1007 This is a wonderful old small brass jar appearing to be from 19th century China. It may have been a tobacco tin, match holder, spice storage, match or incense holder. It measures 7.5 x 5.25 cm.

#1215 This is a large and very heavy brass tray with dragons on it. The mark is Xuande, a Ming emperor who was himself an artist. For this reason Chinese artists frequently use this mark for much more recent pieces. This brass charger is likely from the latter 19th century to the 1920s, or about 100 years old. It measures 31 x 3 cm. I have not cleaned it so that a buyer can decide if they want it to have a shine or an old patina.

#1008 This small old statue has a lot of detail. Vintage ones like this one command high prices compared to the modern ones and they look very different in material and work. I saw one exactly like this today dated to the 1970s for $100 USD. This one measures 9 x 3 x 2.5 cm

#1009 Many cultures have significance in eggs and China is no exception. One is smaller than the other and they are: 5 x 3 x 3 and 6 x 3.5 x3.5 cm.

#1010 These candlestick holders were designed to take a matchbox in the bottom (the matchbox size is 6 x 4 cm). They were called go-to-bed candlestick holders as they would have all you need at once. Matchboxes to fit can be found in hardware stores or amazon. Good to have on hand even now. They measure 9 x 4.5 x 4 cm

#1011 You can find these boxes still being made today, but this is a a very old one. It has a wood lined interior. The hinge is intact as a piece of brass that slips between the wood and the brass on the lid. I have left it disconnected so that it does not get damaged. There are markings on the bottom for export. It is not in perfect condition showing its age with a patina that can be left or it could be cleaned up. It measures 8.5 x 6 x 3 cm.

#1135 Mid century Indian brass box with nice patina. It measures 5 x 9.5 cm.

#1136 These mid century vintage brass hangers are heavy brass. they can be used for small items or spaced out for coats. the hooks are big enough to hold a coat hanger if enough room between them can be given for the width of the hanger. I know they are at least from the 1970s if not older. they are 10 x 4 cm each.

#1146 This is a small compass measuring 4.5 x 6.5 x 1.5 cm. It is working, very convenient to carry and vintage. Even carrying it in an urban setting will keep track of directions.

#1168 The use of horse brass dates back to the pre-Roman period with a complete set of horse trappings with amulets, found in North Africa in 1932. Although the early forms were mostly made of bronze, some have been discovered made of silver, or gold inlaid and inset with semi-precious stones, those of brass belong to a much more recent period. There is a society for collecting brasses and you can learn about their history. While many are common, some are rare and sell for a lot of money. I have not researched these ones.

#1169 An antique bugle with no valves but with a slide to change key. US regulation From before 1938. The Boy Scouts used the same bugle. It measures 42 x 16 cm.

#1171 Two vintage brass rabbits, one sitting on its hind feet, one crouching, are a matched pair. Made of brass, they are heavy. The tall rabbit measure appx. 10 cm high. Great as Easter decor, perfect for a rabbit lover, or a collector of brass figurines, they make a lovely gift. Made in India.
